Hello. I'm Richard Ager. WElcome to NH Outlook. Usually, the first year of a legislative session is the budget year- when the major spending descisions are made. Not so this time- as the Legislature is locked in endless debate over how to balance the budget that passed last year. One approach- expanded gambling, which is attracting new support from former opponents. |

Rep. Russell: 13:17:43 I am on Health and Human services committee and I believe that this is going to have a negative effect on every single agency in that department. Domestic disputes, drug and alcohol. We may be getting money from this, but the increase in those problems are going to- in my opinion be far surpassed the money that we are going to get from this. I just don't see this as a positive thing for this state. I also have a real problem attaching this to individual vulnerable abilities. In a time of crisis we cannot consider short term positive for some that is going to have a long term affect for all of us. Thanks. 13:19:12 Rep. Rodeschin: 13:09:18 I appear before you in support of Senate bill 489 I have a long record of voting against expanded gambling in past years, but today I appear before you to urge you to say yes to this proposal. I have been a member of this New Hampshire house for nearly 20 years I have cast countless votes on many items large and small whether I voted yes or no I always have listen to my constituents, it is a reason that I am now a supporter for expanded gambling. In recent months my constituents have been voicing louder and stronger for this idea. I have been asked by seniors, law enforcement, republicans, democrats and business owners. There reasons vary widely but there request is the same, they are in support of expanded gambling. 13:10:12 |
